Bubbles and Coke

Jacob, Jake, Bub, Bubby or Bubbles (and Hannah)

with Cocoa, the Cokester, Coke or Coca Moe

Little Helper

Amanda had a little helper when she did the laundry today.....

Hope this was the "dirty" basket ......

6 Days and Counting...

Amanda and some of her basketball teammates.

We haven't had a snow storm in 6 days...what's going on here? The temperature has been way too cold, but at least no shoveling in it.

Next snow storm due to arrive on Tuesday....

Jake has been sick so I haven't even gotten a photo of him with the new pup. He started running a fever last night and went to work today sick. I want him to stay home tomorrow, but he said that his managers didn't believe he was sick. (mind you, he was burning up when he came home) I want so badly to call and let them know that my son is sick, but having your Mommy call your boss at age 18 is like the ultimate no-no.

I wish he was little so that I could take care of him---but, I can only make "suggestions", and buy Tylenol.

Amanda has been running with her friends .... a sleepover at Kendall's last night, Jocelyn's birthday, and Student Senate stuff. Basketball and more friends tonight.

Cocoa has been a good girl. She has gone potty outside quite a few times and seems to be adjusting to her new home and family.

Everyone's busy....

Score !

Amanda and Kendall are back at the scoring table again......

This was taken tonight. They scored 3 games.
I was taking some team photos tonight before each game. A little extra cash :)

Ice Storm 2008

So much for my whinning about the endless snow....... bring on the ICE !
Sunday we had an ice storm. Sleet, Rain, Ice and a bit of snow just for fun.

Jake went out and dumped salt everywhere and also tried to shovel the front walk.

What a mess....
Every road was solid ice...
Amanda opted for the warm indoors and laundry duty.
No pictures, please!

My Mom, Dad and Teddy were stuck up in Green Bay for a couple of days. They had much more snow than we did. The worst driving conditions in 25 years up there. They did manage to get to and from their bowling tournament safely.

Tailgate 2008

Saturday it was a balmy 27 degrees outside - and believe it or not - no snowstorm.
This calls for a cookout!

Yep, I fired up the 'ole Weber and grilled some good old all-American tailgate food.
Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and Wisconsin Bratwurst.

I think that I fed about 9 kids - and just to embarass my children - I put a couple of lawn chairs out by the grill for ambiance.

Payback for the Kohl's trip...

Tagged

Okay June........I've Been Tagged !

I guess this means that I have to tell at least 6 wierd things - or things unknown about me.
1. I do laundry at all hours of the night. I'll wash a load at ten and then wake up at 3 to dry it. The really ironic thing about this is that my mother does the same thing. Wierd!
2. I have been extremely claustraphobic (spelling) ever since I was accidentally locked in the back of a refrigerated truck on a catering event. How did I escape? I ran side to side in the truck throwing myself into the walls and someone outside noticed the truck rocking back and forth. This still gives me nightmares.
3. I never eat the peanut butter from the bottom or sides of the jar. I throw it away. I also never drink the last bit of milk from the carton. I have no idea why I have this wierd quirk.
4. I have no depth perception and only one of my eyes works at a time. This is a result of my being born cross-eyed. I also have a lazy eye - especially when I'm tired.
5. My junior high gym teacher and coach, Mrs. Beaster, taught me how to hit a baseball. I will be forever gratefull to this woman for the time, effort, and care that went into this. I was 13 years old and had never had a hit....never even CLOSE to a hit! She actually had to stand behind me and hold the bat with me until I learned. This saved me from humiliation for years after. I actually played intramural baseball in college. Had some hits too!
6. I hold my pencil really wierd.......many teachers tried to change this....unsuccessfully.
I'll do eight because June did 8....
7. I love being able to open the windows up in spring .....after being cooped up all winter with stale dry air. Taking the first spring ride in a car with the windows down and the sun shinning is right up there on my list of favorites also.
8. The stupidest thing I did in college was to drive my beloved 1974 Ford Maverick named "Gertrude" around the block on a back road in town with my 2 friends on the hood. We were just having fun and being idiots with no thought to how dangerous this was.
I now tag Jake and Amanda, my mother and father, and Hannah, who will all have to be "Tagged" on my site.

End of Season

Amanda's basketball season ended with a victory on Wednesday in her last game against
Kettle Moraine.

Amanda, Jocelyn, Amy and Hannah after the game. Great to have fans in the stands !

Hannah is sporting 7 new stitches on her right big toe......something about wearing flip flops outside in the snow and kicking icicles. ????
Amanda goes for the hoop....
One more for the road........Amanda bringing the ball down the court.
GREAT SEASON PRINCESS !!!

Enough Said

The road going home today...........

YMCA

Today Jake, Hannah, Trevor, Amy and Amanda decided to go to the YMCA and work out.

Problem: Jake has no "gym" clothes. He hasn't even owned a pair of tennis shoes since about 8th grade (he wears shoes by "Vans") and he only wears Khaki style shorts.

Field Trip: to Kohl's in the snow. Yes, it's SNOWING ...... Surprise ! Surprise !!

Next stop: YMCA
A new pair of Nike shoes - the ones on display behind him are the chosen style.
Trevor buys a pair of Nike's also......
Going into Kohl's with 5 teenagers is fun.......first they stop to sit in a shopping cart right across from a long line of customers waiting to check out. All the customers look at ME! I look right back and say "I'm not with THEM" ! (the customers laugh...)
Then the kids start singing some song from High School Musical while we are walking through the store. More "looks" directed at ME.
And they say that parents are embarrasing!
Oh well, a successful trip and Jake is ready for the Y.
I really wish that I could have been THERE with my camera.
This would have been a real Kodak moment........
*Note- Jacob is my computer geek. He likes nothing that requires physical activity. So, this was sooooo funny to everyone, that he was going to the Y.
We'll see if they get him to go again.....

Hannah's 18th

Last Sunday was Hannah's birthday......

Happy 18th Birthday Hannah !!!

Party of 8

Just in case I was wondering......my sofa seats 8.

Just a random photo of the kids ...... glad that everyone is getting along.
Trevor, Ben, Amanda, Jake, Hannah, Sarah, Jordan (in front) and Jocelyn.

Snow, Snow and MORE Snow

We have officially had 67 inches of snow this season, as of last Thursday!
School has been cancelled 3 times. Twice for snow and once for the cold.
Did we move to the North Pole ??????

Amanda and Kendall enjoying the snow on one of our "school's closed" days.
snow monkeys
swingin'
Chillin' on our day off! :)

You Bettcha!

Yep, You Bettcha !! We Won.
Score 42-24

Amanda, Jake, and Hannah after the game. I think that we won because Amanda brought her big brother (and his girlfriend) along as a good luck charms...
Yeah, I don't know anything about that....
Hmmmm ....I think that I'll just reach in here and smack that ball right away from you....
No pictures please.......
Two more games to go until the season is over.

TWIRP - Jacob

Jake's group went to Hannah's house for dinner before the TWIRP dance.
(Jake was, of course, asked to the dance by Hannah)
Here are a few photos from his evening...
Photo shoot was at Hannah's house before dinner.
This one is out of place...it was actually taken after the dance and on the way out the door to the "after" party. Jake with Kyle (and a bunch of other friends) stopped home to change.
Another Jake and Hannah photo.
Jake's friends - Jordan and the cat (they stayed home) Hannah, Jake, Sarah, Trevor, Ashley and Dan. How do you like all the color coordination?
the girls...
the guys...

Hannah's Mom did a great job of getting the guys flowers pinned to their shirts- it was almost impossible! The flowers were so heavy and the shirts so thin that they kept flopping over.

TWIRP = History
Another "last" for Jake in his senior year.

TWIRP - Amanda

Last Saturday night was the big TWIRP ... aka Turnabout or Sadie Hawkins dance. I forget what each of the letters stands for.... The Woman Is Responsible for Paying ??? (or something like that).
Here are a few photos from Amanda's evening. She and her friends decided to go without "dates" this time around. They had a blast!

Amanda and Kendall at Louise's restaurant, where they had dinner.
With Jocelyn in the car on the way to the dance.
The group that went together.
Pizza for dinner !
Group photo at the restaurant.
After the dance...
